The Guardians project aims to create upskilling pathways, improving accessibility and increasing the take-up of adult education. Adult education can play a critical role in designing tailored learning programmes that meet the specific needs of healthcare workers and professionals with low levels of skills, knowledge, and competences.
Through the GUARDIANS project healthcare workers will be assisted in developing the skills and knowledge they need to meet the changing needs of the healthcare sector. Upskilling pathways will be created to provide opportunities for healthcare workers to improve their global competences according to the WHO framework, which will not only benefit them but also improve the quality of care they provide to patients. Moreover, the competencies of educators and other adult education staff will be improved by receiving training to address Universal Health Coverage or Global Competency Coaching. As key service providers, it is essential that they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the challenges affecting families, communicate effectively with vulnerable groups, and make effective referrals to relevant service providers.
